Important information about the 2025 SJC Fair Gates Project

Hello Gatekeepers,

First, I want to thank you again for managing the gates and tickets at the Fair this year!


In order to prepare for the event, we’ll be hosting a Gate & Ticket training at the following time and location:

Monday, August 11th at 5:00 PM at San Juan County Fairgrounds849 Argyle Ave.       

Please find us at the Fairgrounds Picnic Shelter/Beer Garden in front of the main building.


Just a few reminders:

  • Fair goers can purchase tickets prior to the Fair online at the Fair’s website: https://tickets.sanjuancountywa.gov/p/tickets--deals

  • We will be taking Debit/Credit cards, Cash, & Local checks.

  • We will be using Microsoft Surfaces with Debit/Credit card swipers to sell tickets in person.

  • In person tickets will be sold at Main Gate 1, Main Gate 2, and School Gate.

  • The Southgate will not be selling tickets but will have the ability to scan QR codes for online pre-purchased Fair ticket holders.

  • Season tickets will be scanned daily, unlike in years past when they were punched.

  • Volunteers will come in 15-20 minutes before their shift to count and pick up cash box, radio, and tickets.

  • All gates will still be stamping for re-entry (upon request only) and click/counting each new patron.

  • All gates will distribute the Zip Code Survey that we need for applying for grants. However, this year the survey will ONLY need to be distributed to non-San Juan County residents.

  • In addition to these topics, we’ll also be discussing the following items at the training: Disability Tickets procedure, Gate binder review, Money handoff processes, and other changes from 2024. PLEASE DO NOT WEAR/BRING ITEM(s) SUPPORTING ANY PERSONAL POLITICAL CAUSES What I need from you: A list of your ticket gate volunteers by their first name, last name, email address, contact phone number, and Gate location they will be working. Please have this list to me by no later than Tuesday, August 12th at 5:00pm. If you need a template for this information, please use the one attached (it’s okay if you have your own).The Volunteer information is needed to create each gate volunteer as a user on the iPhone/iPads.Please forward this email to your Volunteer Cashier!
