Soroptimist International is a worldwide volunteer service organization for women in management and professions working to advance human rights and the status of women and girls. This organization of over 120,000 clubs provides a global voice for women in effecting change at a local, national and international level through awareness, advocacy and action.
Soroptimist International of Friday Harbor members share their time, talents and financial resources to enrich the San Juan Island community through service projects like the Soroptimist Cancer Treatment Support Mission Project which helps fund transportation to the mainland for islanders receiving cancer treatment. We acknowledge island women and girls who work to make a difference with the Violet Richardson Award and the Making A Difference for Women Award.
In addition to our commitment to the San Juan Island community, we contribute to national and international projects as well.
Together, we will:
Improve the lives of women and girls
Help women achieve economic and political equality
Serve as a global voice for women
Provide outstanding leadership development opportunities for women
Enhance world peace and understanding
Are you interested in taking part in an organization that works to enrich the lives of women worldwide? Why not attend one of our weekly lunch meetings at noon on Wednesdays at Vinny’s Restaurant to find out more about Soroptimists.
